About
A proposal by the Commons Conservators to enclose Kingwood Common with a three kilometre long fence interspersed with 23 unsightly gates to enclose six cows for four months of the year has provoked opposition from a large number of residents. The cows will supposedly keep the woodland glades open but Kingwood Common covers a large area, of which the glades form only a very small part, and to enclose the whole common for the sake of a few small glades does not make sense. The fact that there will be cows on the Common will deter many people from continuing to use it. Livestock can be unpredictable particuarly when there are dogs around and it will be a long run to the fence to escape. At a recent meeting the Parish Council voted to request that the Conservators find alternative solutions and concerned residents have got together to form the Kingwood Common Preservation Group if you would like to support our group please click on join us and complete form or e-mail us on opposeenclosure@yahoo.com all details are kept confidentially. |
